BÖHLER UTP 8 Electrodes - 2.5 × 300 mm, 1.7 kg, 102 pcs, Dry System20, Cast Ni, 89436

BÖHLER UTP 8 are special nickel-coated Cast Ni type electrodes designed for cold welding of cast iron, repairing castings, and joining cast iron parts with steel, copper, or copper alloys. They are particularly suitable for grey cast iron, tempered cast iron, steel cast iron, and repair work where a highly controllable weld metal is required.

The electrodes feature a graphite-basic coating, a stable arc, and excellent welding properties at low heat input. The nickel-based weld metal is easily machinable with cutting tools, which is especially important when repairing cracked or damaged cast iron parts that require further machining after welding.

The 2.5 × 300 mm size is suitable for more precise repairs, smaller cast iron parts, local crack repairs, buttering, and welding in areas where good control over the weld pool is necessary. The Dry System20 packaging helps protect the electrodes from moisture and keeps them ready for use.

Welding recommendation:

When welding cast iron, it is recommended to use a short arc, weld with short beads, and proceed with low heat input. It is advisable to gently peen the weld while hot after individual sections to reduce internal stress and the risk of cracking. The base material must be thoroughly cleaned of impurities, grease, and casting residues before welding.

Main advantages:
