BÖHLER UTP 86 FN Electrodes 2.5 × 300 mm / 1.7 kg / 97 pcs / Dry System20 / 89440

BÖHLER UTP 86 FN are special coated Cast NiFe type electrodes designed for MMA welding of cast iron, repair of castings, surfacing and joining cast iron to steel. Thanks to the nickel-iron alloy, they provide a strong, tough and easily machinable weld metal with high resistance to cracking.

The electrodes are suitable for welding and surfacing grey cast iron EN GJL 100 – EN GJL 400, ductile / nodular cast iron EN GJS 400 – EN GJS 700 and malleable cast iron EN GJMB 350 – EN GJMB 650. They are also used for the repair of cracked or damaged cast iron parts, structural welding of castings, and cast iron-steel / steel-cast iron joints.

Thanks to the bimetallic core, the electrodes have very good current carrying capacity, a stable arc and a smooth bead appearance. The weld metal is resistant to cracks and is easily machinable with standard cutting tools after welding. The Dry System20 packaging helps protect the electrodes from moisture and keeps them ready for reliable use.

Welding recommendation:

When welding cast iron, it is recommended to use a short arc, weld with shorter beads and, if necessary, gently peen the weld after individual layers to reduce the risk of stresses and cracks. When repairing larger cast iron parts, it is advisable to use low heat input and prevent overheating of the material.

Main advantages:

  • Special electrodes for welding cast iron
  • Alloy type Cast NiFe / nickel-iron
  • Suitable for grey, ductile and malleable cast iron
  • Also usable for cast iron-steel joints
  • High crack resistance of the weld metal
  • Good machinability of the weld after welding
  • Stable arc and smooth weld bead
  • Suitable for repairs, renovations, surfacing and structural welding
  • Dry System20 for better protection of electrodes against moisture
