Soft Solders

Soft solders are among the most commonly used filler materials in soldering. Their main property is a low melting temperature, which is below 450 °C. For this reason, they are ideal for applications where parts need to be joined without damaging the base material or sensitive components.

Soft solders are most often made from tin (Sn) alloys with additions of lead, copper, silver, or bismuth. Modern lead-free solders are a more environmentally friendly alternative while maintaining excellent mechanical and electrical properties.

✅ Advantages of soft solders:

  • low working temperature – gentle on materials and electronic components,
  • good electrical conductivity, making them ideal for electronics,
  • easy application using a standard soldering iron,
  • availability and affordable price.

❌ Disadvantages of soft solders:

  • lower mechanical strength compared to hard solders,
  • limited resistance to high temperatures and mechanical stress,
  • in many cases, the need to use flux.

Applications of soft solders:
They are most widely used in electronics and electrical engineering, where they are applied for soldering wires, printed circuit boards, and small components. In addition, they are popular in plumbing, for joining copper pipes in water and heating systems. They are also suitable for repairing household appliances or delicate metal objects.

👉 If you need a reliable joint at low temperatures and easy application, soft solders are the ideal choice.
