ALUNOX AlMg5 (ER5356) is an aluminium filler material designed for MIG welding of aluminium-magnesium alloys. Thanks to its chemical composition containing approximately 5% magnesium, it is suitable for applications requiring high weld strength and good corrosion resistance.
The manufacturer recommends this wire for welding alloys EN AW-5005, 5019, 5050, 5052, 5083, 5086, 5154, 5251, 5356, 5454, 5456, 5754, as well as selected 6xxx series alloys, such as 6061 and 6082. It is suitable for the production and repair of aluminium structures, transport equipment, tanks, marine structures and other products exposed to corrosive environments.
For welding, it is recommended to use a shielding gas of 100 % argon (I1) or argon-helium mixtures (I3) depending on the requirements of the specific application. For thicker materials, the manufacturer recommends preheating to approximately 150 °C.
