BÖHLER Thermanit X MIG Wire 1.0 mm / 15 kg (G 18 8 Mn / ER307 mod.) – 70776
BÖHLER Thermanit X is a high-alloy austenitic solid welding wire designed for MAG welding of dissimilar steels, high-strength structural materials, and for creating ductile surfacing layers. It corresponds to classification EN ISO 14343-A: G 18 8 Mn and AWS A5.9: ER307(mod.), with material number 1.4370.
The high content of chromium, nickel, and manganese creates an austenitic weld metal with high ductility, toughness, and resistance to cracking. The wire is particularly suitable for demanding combinations of base materials where the use of conventional welding wires may be problematic. It is used for joining unalloyed and low-alloy steels to austenitic stainless steels, for welding manganese steels, refined steels, armour plates, and for creating buffer layers before further surfacing.
Thermanit X is suitable for producing transition weld joints between austenitic and ferritic steels, with a recommended maximum operating temperature of 300 °C for such dissimilar joints. The weld metal exhibits scaling resistance up to 850 °C, but at temperatures above 500 °C, it does not have sufficient resistance in sulphur-containing flue gas environments. When welding dissimilar steels, it is necessary to control the heat input to limit the formation of brittle martensitic transition zones.
Shielding gases of groups M1, M2, and M31 according to EN ISO 14175 and a direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ are used for welding. The specific shielding gas mixture and welding parameters are selected according to the combination of materials being welded and the technological procedure.
The wire with a diameter of 1.0 mm is suitable for precise and controlled welding, repairs, and surfacing. It is supplied on a 15 kg spool and is intended for professional use in mechanical engineering, repair services, energy, industrial maintenance, and the production of special steel structures.
