Welding wires for steel

Steel Welding Wires

The most common and widespread are steel welding wires, used for welding carbon and low-alloy steels. They represent a universal solution applied in manufacturing, repairs, and home workshops. The most frequently used wires are marked SG2 or SG3, which differ in their chemical composition and the properties of the resulting weld.

✅ Advantages of steel wires include their wide availability, affordable price, and versatility of use. They provide a stable arc, good penetration, and high-quality results across different welding applications. Available in various diameters, they are suitable for welding thin sheets as well as thicker structures.

❌ The main disadvantages include the need for shielding gas (most commonly CO₂ or a mixture of argon and CO₂) and sensitivity to the cleanliness of the welded material. The steel surface should be free of rust, grease, and impurities before welding to ensure a strong and defect-free weld.

Applications of steel wires are virtually unlimited – from general locksmith work and car body welding to the production and assembly of steel structures, machines, and equipment. They are also widely used in the automotive and construction industries, where reliability and speed are essential.

👉 If you are looking for a versatile welding material, MIG/MAG steel welding wires are the best choice for both professionals and hobby welders.
