BÖHLER DCMS-IG MIG Wire 1.0 mm / 18 kg (CrMo1) – 27853
BÖHLER DCMS-IG is a professional low-alloy solid welding wire designed for MAG welding of heat-resistant chromium-molybdenum steels. It complies with classifications EN ISO 21952-A: G CrMo1Si and AWS A5.28: ER80S-B2Si. It is primarily intended for welding boiler, pipe, and structural steels alloyed with approximately 1.25% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum.
The alloying elements chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo) contribute to the strength, toughness, and creep resistance of the weld metal at elevated temperatures. The weld metal predominantly has a bainitic microstructure and provides good mechanical properties after tempering or appropriate heat treatment. The manufacturer states its suitability for heat-resistant structures with design temperatures up to 570 °C, provided that the relevant material and design requirements are met.
BÖHLER DCMS-IG wire is particularly suitable for welding 13CrMo4-5 (1.7335) steel and compatible heat-resistant steels 15CrMo5 (1.7262), 16CrMoV4 (1.7728), 25CrMo4 (1.7218), 24CrMo5 (1.7258) and 42CrMo4 (1.7225). It is also used for selected steel castings and ASTM materials, such as ASTM A335 P11/P12, A213 T12, A182 F12 and A217 WC6. The suitability of a specific joint must be assessed based on the base material and the approved welding procedure.
Typical areas of application include steam boilers, pressure vessels, high-temperature piping, heat exchangers, power plants, process piping and petrochemical plant components. The wire is intended for welding structures exposed to long-term thermal and mechanical loads, where creep resistance and stability of mechanical properties are critical.
BÖHLER DCMS-IG is characterised by good feeding properties, a smooth welding process and good wetting of the weld edges. The wire has a uniform copper surface layer with low overall copper content, which contributes to reliable welding current transmission and protection of the wire surface.
Welding is carried out using the MAG (135) process with Ar/CO2 (M21) or 100% CO2 (C1) shielding gas according to EN ISO 14175. Direct current with positive polarity of the welding wire DC+ is used. When using pure CO2, the mechanical properties of the weld metal may differ from those achieved with a mixed shielding gas.
When welding heat-resistant CrMo steels, it is necessary to observe the correct preheating, interpass temperature, and subsequent heat treatment. The manufacturer specifies a guide preheat of 200–300 °C depending on the wall thickness and the type of base material. Standard post-weld heat treatment is performed at temperatures of 600–700 °C. The exact regime must be based on an approved welding procedure specification (WPS).
The 1.0 mm diameter allows for controlled MAG welding of pipe joints, pressure components, and medium-thickness parts made of heat-resistant steels. The wire is supplied in 18 kg spool packaging for professional and industrial welding equipment.
