BÖHLER DCMS-IG MIG Wire 1.2 mm / 18 kg (CrMo1) – 27860
BÖHLER DCMS-IG is a professional low-alloy solid welding wire designed for MAG welding of heat-resistant chromium-molybdenum steels. It complies with classifications EN ISO 21952-A: G CrMo1Si and AWS A5.28: ER80S-B2Si. It is primarily intended for welding boiler, pipe, and structural steels alloyed with approximately 1.25% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum.
The alloying elements chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo) contribute to the strength, toughness, and creep resistance of the weld metal at elevated temperatures. The weld metal has a predominantly bainitic microstructure and provides good mechanical properties after tempering or appropriate heat treatment. The manufacturer states usability at design temperatures up to 570 °C, provided that the relevant technological and material requirements are met.
The wire is particularly suitable for welding 13CrMo4-5 (1.7335) steel and other compatible heat-resistant materials, such as 15CrMo5 (1.7262), 16CrMoV4 (1.7728), 24CrMo5 (1.7258), 25CrMo4 (1.7218) and 42CrMo4 (1.7225). It is also used for selected steel castings and materials according to ASTM, particularly A335 P11/P12, A213 T12, A182 F12 and A217 WC6.
BÖHLER DCMS-IG is used in the manufacture and repair of steam boilers, pressure vessels, high-temperature piping, heat exchangers, power plants and technological distribution systems. It is also suitable for welding components in the petrochemical and chemical industries, where resistance to long-term thermal and mechanical stress is required.
The welding wire has a uniform copper surface layer with low overall copper content, which supports reliable electrical contact and smooth feeding. It is characterised by a stable welding process, good wetting of the weld edges, and high-quality weld joint formation.
Welding is carried out using the MAG (135) process with Ar/CO2 (M21) or 100% CO2 (C1) shielding gas according to EN ISO 14175. Direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ is used. The mechanical properties of the weld metal depend on the shielding gas used and the subsequent heat treatment.
When welding heat-resistant CrMo steels, it is essential to observe the required preheating, interpass temperature and post-weld heat treatment. The manufacturer specifies a guideline preheat of 200–300 °C, depending on the base material and wall thickness. Standard post-weld heat treatment is performed at temperatures of 600–700 °C. The specific regime must comply with the approved welding procedure specification (WPS).
The 1.2 mm diameter is suitable for productive MAG welding of medium-thick and thicker parts made of heat-resistant steels. Compared to a 1.0 mm diameter, it allows for a higher deposition rate with appropriate settings. The wire is supplied on an 18 kg spool for professional and industrial welding equipment.
