MIG wire ELBOR NiMoCr 1.2 mm / 16 kg (ER110S-G) D300
ELBOR NiMoCr MIG wire is a low-alloy solid welding wire alloyed with nickel, molybdenum, and chromium, designed for MAG welding of high-strength, fine-grained, and refined structural steels. It corresponds to AWS A5.28: ER110S-G and is used for creating high-stress welded joints requiring high strength and good toughness of the weld metal.
The alloying elements nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo), and chromium (Cr) help achieve the required mechanical properties and toughness of the weld metal. The wire is intended for welding components exposed to high mechanical stress, including structures that require the retention of toughness at low temperatures. Product documentation states its suitability for applications requiring impact toughness at a temperature of -40 °C.
ELBOR NiMoCr is used for welding high-strength structural steels, such as WELDOX 700, NA-XTRA 55, 60, 65 and 70, T1, T1A, T1B, HY80 and HY90. The suitability of the filler material for a specific steel and thickness must be assessed based on the required strength, toughness, and welding procedure.
Typical areas of application include crane booms, construction and earthmoving machinery, lifting mechanisms, load-bearing structures, machine frames, and components exposed to high loads. The wire is suitable for professional mechanical engineering, the production of special steel structures, and demanding repair work.
Welding is performed using the MAG (135) process under the protection of a suitable argon and carbon dioxide (Ar/CO2) mixture, most commonly group M21 according to EN ISO 14175. Direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ is used. For high-strength steels, it is essential to follow the prescribed welding conditions, including preheating, interpass temperature, and controlled heat input.
The wire diameter of 1.2 mm is suitable for the productive welding of medium and heavy-gauge steel parts. Compared to a 1.0 mm diameter, it allows for a higher deposition rate with appropriate settings. The wire is supplied on a D300 spool weighing 16 kg, designed for professional MIG/MAG welding equipment.

The exact chemical composition of ELBOR NiMoCr must be verified in the technical data sheet or the manufacturer's material certificate. Values of comparable ER110S-G wires cannot be automatically considered as ELBOR values.
Mechanical properties:
| Mechanical property | Available data |
|---|---|
| Yield strength Re / Rp0.2 | Exact ELBOR value not confirmed |
| Tensile strength Rm | Exact ELBOR value not confirmed |
| Elongation A5 | Min. 17% according to VALTEC product description |
| Impact energy KV (-40 °C) | Min. 47 J according to VALTEC product description |
| Weld metal condition | As-welded, without additional heat treatment |
The VALTEC product description also states strength values of 770–940 MPa and a minimum of 690 MPa, but it likely has the yield strength and tensile strength designations swapped. Therefore, without the original ELBOR technical data sheet, these values are not listed as definitive parameters.
