MIG WELD ML5356 (AlMg5) wire 1.2 mm / 7 kg / ER5356 / BS300
MIG WELD ML5356 is a solid aluminium welding wire alloyed with magnesium, manganese and chromium, designed for MIG welding of aluminium alloys. It corresponds to classification EN ISO 18273: S Al 5356 (AlMg5Cr) and AWS A5.10: ER5356, with material number 3.3556. A magnesium content of approximately 4.5–5.5% contributes to the good strength, ductility and corrosion resistance of the weld metal in marine environments.
The welding wire is characterised by good mechanical properties and resistance to the effects of seawater. It is also suitable for aluminium structures intended for subsequent anodising, where a good colour match between the weld metal and the base material is required. Inert shielding gases I1 (argon), I2 (helium) or I3 (argon and helium mixtures) according to EN ISO 14175 are used for welding. Direct current with positive wire polarity (DC+) is used in the MIG process.
MIG WELD ML5356 is used in the manufacture of boats, coastal and marine structures, railway vehicles, automotive components, tanks and aluminium frames. It is suitable for welding alloys AlMg5, AlMg3, AlZnMg1, AlZnMgCu0.5, AlMgSi0.7 and AlMg1SiCu and other compatible aluminium materials. The 1.2 mm diameter allows for productive welding of medium-thickness aluminium parts and provides a higher deposition rate than the smaller 1.0 mm diameter under comparable welding conditions. The wire is supplied in 7 kg packs on a BS300 spool for professional and industrial use.
