ELBOR AlMg5 MIG Wire 1.0 mm / 7 kg (ER5356) D-300
ELBOR AlMg5 MIG wire is a solid aluminium welding wire alloyed with approximately 5% magnesium, designed for MIG welding of AlMg group aluminium alloys and selected AlMgSi alloys. It complies with AWS A5.10: ER5356 and EN ISO 18273: S Al 5356 (AlMg5Cr) classifications. The material number is 3.3556.
The wire is characterised by good mechanical properties, high toughness, and resistance to atmospheric and marine corrosion. The approximately 5% magnesium content provides the weld metal with good strength and enables the creation of reliable joints when welding suitable aluminium alloys. Compared to silicon-alloyed wires of the AlSi5 (ER4043) type, it provides higher weld metal strength and generally better colour matching after anodising.
ELBOR AlMg5 is particularly suitable for welding alloys EN AW-5052, EN AW-5083, EN AW-5086 and EN AW-5754, as well as selected alloys of the AlMgSi group, such as EN AW-6060, EN AW-6061 and EN AW-6082, provided that the required technological process and weld joint properties allow it. It is used in the production of aluminium structures, tanks, reservoirs, trailers, boat parts, transport vehicles and machine parts.
Welding is performed using the MIG (131) process with an inert shielding gas, most commonly pure argon (I1) or a mixture of argon and helium (I3) according to EN ISO 14175. The wire is used with a direct current and positive electrode polarity DC+. For reliable feeding of aluminium wire, U-groove feed rollers and aluminium-suitable wire guides are recommended.
The 1.0 mm diameter is suitable for welding thinner and medium-thickness aluminium parts where good control of the weld pool is required. The wire is supplied on a D300 spool weighing 7 kg for professional use in metalworking, mechanical engineering, the transport and shipping industries.
