Electrodes are an integral part of welding processes, ensuring the transfer of current to the material being welded and contributing to the creation of a high-quality weld. There are several types of electrodes designed for different materials and welding techniques:
Basic electrodes with low hydrogen content ensure high weld strength and toughness. They are used for welding steels with higher strength requirements and for welding in demanding conditions where high weld quality is required. Cellulose electrodes contain a cellulose coating that ensures deep penetration and rapid formation of the weld pool. They are ideal for welding pipelines and other applications where welding in all positions is required. Gouging electrodes are used for removing old welds, cutting, or gouging metal surfaces. They are characterized by high gouging speed and minimal heat impact on the material. Aluminium electrodes designed specifically for welding aluminium and its alloys ensure good conductivity and corrosion resistance. Cast iron electrodes are suitable for welding and repairing cast iron materials. They ensure good adhesion and minimal cracking during welding. Stainless steel electrodes designed for welding stainless steel provide high corrosion resistance and ensure an aesthetically clean weld. Special purpose electrodes are intended for welding specific materials and alloys that require special care. They are used, for example, for welding nickel, copper, titanium, and other special metals. Hardfacing electrodes are used for hardfacing, i.e. adding material to the surface of metals for the purpose of repair or increasing wear resistance. They provide high hardness and wear resistance. Rutile-basic electrodes combine the properties of rutile and basic electrodes, providing good weldability and a high-quality weld. They are suitable for general steel welding where high weld strength and toughness are required. Rutile-cellulose electrodes contain a rutile coating that ensures good weldability and deep penetration. They are ideal for welding pipelines and other applications in all positions. Rutile electrodes have a rutile coating that ensures easy arc ignition and a smooth weld surface. They are suitable for general use and provide good mechanical properties of the weld.
Each type of electrode is designed to meet the specific needs of welding tasks and materials. The correct choice of electrode is important for achieving high-quality welds and ensuring the long-term reliability and strength of welded joints.
