BÖHLER Thermanit JE-308LSi MIG Wire 1.0 mm / 15 kg (1.4316) – 75713
BÖHLER Thermanit JE-308LSi is a professional high-alloy solid stainless steel welding wire designed for MAG welding of austenitic stainless steels. It complies with the EN ISO 14343-A: G 19 9 L Si and AWS A5.9: ER308LSi classifications. The material number of the filler metal is 1.4316. The wire is primarily intended for welding and surfacing of stabilised and non-stabilised 18Cr-8Ni stainless steels.
The wire is alloyed with approximately 20% chromium and 10% nickel. Low carbon content, maximum 0.02%, helps reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion in the weld metal. Increased silicon content ensures very good fluidity, wetting of the weld joints and a uniform appearance of the weld bead. The wire is also characterised by very good feeding properties and stable welding performance.
BÖHLER Thermanit JE-308LSi is suitable for welding steels 1.4301 (AISI 304), 1.4306 and 1.4307 (AISI 304L), 1.4311 (304LN), 1.4541 (AISI 321), 1.4546 and 1.4550 (AISI 347), as well as other compatible austenitic stainless steels and castings. It is used in the production of stainless steel pipes, tanks, reservoirs, technological piping, food processing equipment, machine parts and steel structures.
The weld metal provides good corrosion resistance and high toughness even at low temperatures. The manufacturer states usability at temperatures down to -196 °C and a maximum application temperature of 350 °C. Specific operational use must correspond to the properties of the base material and the required standards.
Welding is performed using the MAG (135) process with argon-based shielding gas mixtures, such as Ar + 2–3 % CO2 or Ar + 1–2 % O2 according to EN ISO 14175. The recommended shielding gas flow rate is 15–20 l/min. Direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ is used.
For welding, the manufacturer recommends a maximum heat input of 2.0 kJ/mm and a maximum interpass temperature of 150 °C. Preheating and subsequent heat treatment are generally not required for common austenitic steels. When welding pipes, suitable root protection must also be provided according to the type of joint.
The 1.0 mm diameter is suitable for general welding of thin and medium-thickness stainless steel parts. For this diameter, the manufacturer specifies short arc 110–140 A / 19–22 V and spray arc 160–220 A / 25–29 V. The wire is supplied in 15 kg spool packaging for professional and industrial use.
