BÖHLER AWS ER316LSi MIG Wire 1.0 mm / 15 kg (86258)
BÖHLER AWS ER316LSi MIG Wire is a solid austenitic stainless steel welding wire designed for MAG welding of 316, 316L and 316Ti type stainless steels. It corresponds to the AWS A5.9: ER316LSi and EN ISO 14343-A: G 19 12 3 L Si classifications. The material designation of the filler metal is 1.4430.
The wire is alloyed with chromium, nickel and molybdenum (Cr-Ni-Mo), which ensure good corrosion resistance of the weld metal. Molybdenum increases resistance to localised, particularly pitting corrosion compared to common 308LSi type wires. Low carbon content reduces the risk of intercrystalline corrosion, and increased silicon content improves weld metal fluidity, wetting of the weld edges and the uniformity of the weld bead.
BÖHLER ER316LSi is suitable for welding stainless steels 1.4401 (AISI 316), 1.4404 (AISI 316L), 1.4435, 1.4436 and 1.4571 (AISI 316Ti), as well as other compatible austenitic stainless steels. It is used in the manufacture of stainless steel pipes, tanks, reservoirs, process piping, pressure vessels, structures and machine parts.
The wire is suitable for use in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and engineering industries. When used in chemically aggressive environments, in contact with chlorides or at elevated temperatures, it is necessary to assess the suitability of the specific weld joint according to the operating conditions and the required corrosion resistance.
Welding is carried out using the MAG (135) process with low-active argon-based shielding gases, particularly groups M12 or M13 according to EN ISO 14175, as per the specification of the selected filler material. Direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ is used. When welding stainless steels, it is recommended to limit excessive heat input and ensure the cleanliness of the surfaces to be welded.
A diameter of 1.0 mm provides versatile application when welding thin and medium-thickness stainless steel parts. It is suitable for manual, mechanised and automated welding. The wire is supplied in a 15 kg spool package for professional MIG/MAG welding equipment.
