ELBOR SG3 SOLUTION 3 MIG Wire 1.0 mm / 16 kg G4Si1 – non-copper coated
ELBOR SG3 SOLUTION 3 is a professional non-copper coated solid steel welding wire designed for MAG welding of non-alloy and low-alloy structural steels. It belongs to the SG3 / G4Si1 material group, which is characterised by an increased manganese and silicon content. The wire is suitable for producing strong and tough welded joints in both standard and more demanding engineering applications.
The main advantage of the SOLUTION 3 range is the non-copper coated wire surface, which provides an alternative to traditional copper-coated welding wires. The product provides a stable welding arc, low spatter and reliable feeding, contributing to smooth welding and reducing the need for subsequent cleaning of welded joints. The non-copper coated design also eliminates the release of particles from the copper surface layer during wire feeding.
Compared to common welding wires of the SG2 / G3Si1 group, the SG3 / G4Si1 grade has a higher manganese and silicon content. These elements improve the deoxidation properties of the filler material and contribute to achieving higher strength properties of the weld metal. The wire is suitable for multi-pass welding, fillet and butt joints, and a wide range of common welding positions.
ELBOR SG3 SOLUTION 3 is used for welding steels S235, S275, S355 and other compatible non-alloy and fine-grained structural steels. The product description also mentions use on ASTM A516 Grade 60. Specific suitability depends on the required mechanical properties, material thickness, and the relevant welding procedure.
The wire is intended for the production of steel structures, beams, frames, machine parts, automotive bodies, transport equipment, pressure components, and general locksmith work. Thanks to the stable welding process, it can be used in manual, mechanised and automated MAG welding.
Welding is carried out using the MAG (135) process with Ar/CO2 (M21) or 100% CO2 (C1) shielding gas according to EN ISO 14175. Direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ is used. When using a mixed Ar/CO2 gas, a smoother arc and less spatter generation are generally achieved than with pure CO2.
The 1.0 mm diameter is a universal choice for welding thinner and medium-thickness steel parts. It provides a good compromise between the precision of the weld bead guidance and the deposition rate. The wire is supplied on a 16 kg spool, suitable for professional MIG/MAG welding equipment.
