MIG WELD SG2 Wire 1.0 mm / 250 kg JQ MG50-6 GOLDEN BRIDGE (G3Si1) – drum
MIG WELD SG2 JQ MG50-6 GOLDEN BRIDGE welding wire is a professional copper-coated solid steel wire designed for MAG welding of non-alloy and low-alloy structural steels. It corresponds to classification AWS A5.18: ER70S-6 and EN ISO 14341-A: G 42 4 C1/M21 3Si1. It belongs to the material group SG2 / G3Si1 and is suitable for manual, mechanised, automated, and robotic welding.
The wire is alloyed with manganese and silicon, which ensure good deoxidising properties and contribute to the creation of strong and ductile weld joints. Copper coating protects the wire from surface oxidation and ensures reliable transmission of the welding current through the torch contact tip.
GOLDEN BRIDGE JQ MG50-6 is characterised by a stable electric arc, low spatter formation, smooth feeding, and a uniform appearance of the weld bead. The manufacturer states a good tolerance to mill scale residues and oil contaminants on the base material surface, and low sensitivity to pore formation under correct welding conditions. Nevertheless, it is recommended to clean the welding surfaces before welding.
The wire is suitable for welding carbon and low-alloy structural steels with a tensile strength of approximately 500 MPa, especially S235, S275 and S355. It is used in the production of steel structures, beams, bridge elements, frames, automotive parts, transport equipment, machine components and industrial welded assemblies.
A significant advantage of this version is the high-capacity 250 kg drum packaging, designed primarily for workplaces with high welding wire consumption. Compared to standard 15 kg spools, it allows for a significant reduction in downtime caused by packaging changes and increases the productivity of series production. Drum packaging is particularly suitable for robotic welding stations, automated production lines and industrial welding equipment with external wire feeding.
When using drum packaging, it is necessary to ensure a compatible wire unwinding and guiding system, including suitable unwinding accessories and a feeding system. Specific compatibility must be verified according to the type of welding equipment and the drum design.
Welding is performed using the MAG (135) process under the protection of 100% CO2 (C1) or a suitable mixture of argon and carbon dioxide (M21) according to EN ISO 14175. Direct current with positive wire polarity DC+ is used.
The 1.0 mm diameter provides a good compromise between weld pool control and deposition rate. The manufacturer specifies a welding current of 50–220 A for this diameter and recommends a shielding gas flow rate of approximately 15–20 l/min when using CO2. The precise welding voltage is adjusted according to the shielding gas, material thickness, welding position, and metal transfer mode.
The wire is supplied in a high-capacity drum containing 250 kg of welding wire. The packaging is suitable for the long-term operation of industrial welding workplaces with high production volumes.
